Tinkerbelle by Robert Manry (1967)Tinkerbelle is a 13.5 foot (4.1 m) sailboat in which 47-year-old newspaperman Robert Manry, a copy editor at the Cleveland Plain Dealer, single-handedly crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1965. At the time, it was the smallest boat to cross the Atlantic nonstop.[1] He left Falmouth, Massachusetts on June 1 and arrived in Falmouth, Cornwall, England 78 days later greeted by an armada of small boats and a huge crowd.[2] Mayor Samuel A. Hooper of Falmouth officially welcomed him at the town's Custom House Quay. Robert Manry's wife Virginia and his children, Robin and Douglas, were also there, having been flown in from Willowick, Ohio.

During the voyage Manry was knocked overboard by big waves, suffered from hallucinations, repaired a broken rudder in mid-ocean, and was woken up one morning by a surfacing submarine. Manry later wrote about the voyage and its preparation in his book Tinkerbelle.

Tinkerbelle, a little wooden Old Town "Whitecap" sailboat, was originally built by the Old Town Canoe Co. of Old Town, Maine. Manry extensively modified her himself for the voyage by adding a cabin and more seaworthy cockpit. Tinkerbelle's official registration number painted on her bow was OH 7013 AR.

Tinkerbelle is on display indoors at the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.[3]

Full Disclosure:
- Engine has great compression & idols great but stalls when putting into gear when cold without additional throttle; Gates Marine has suggested that the carbs get re-build and water pump casing be replaced in the near future (estimated $600 to $700), but said the motor is solid and it would certainly be worth doing the work - If you are at all handy, you can likely do the work yourself, but unfortunately, I am not that guy...
- starter fluid required when cold – instantly starts when used – carb re-build will correct the issue
- I keep the boat on the trailer so bottom paint is not needed. Current bottom pain needs to be stripped and re-gelcoated or sanded and re-painted if cosmetics are an issue or if wet dock is required.
- interior hull has some spider cracks; no structural integrity issues
- some loose screws in rails/windshield – can be easily corrected/replaced
- tachometer does not work
- compass needs to be replaced/pitched
- crack in console deck (near steering wheel mount) – cosmetic issue
- bright work under gauges and throttle needs work (teak needs refinishing)
- old varnish drip stains on center console – may be possible to remove
- no hour meter - estimated hours: my honest estimate = 1052 hrs

NJ – 1997- 2000:avg 12 weekend/summer X 4 hrs = 144 (owner 1)

Accommodations & Layout

The 31's extra room is immediately noticeable when you enter through the sliding glass doors into the main salon the interior is done with warm woods complemented by fabric accents and window treatments. A large windshield stretches across the front and down the sides of the forward salon adding to this two opening windows on each side and you have a panoramic view. Also located in the main salon is the lower helm station with complete gauges and controls with seating located on both port and starboard sides. The galley is a step down from the main salon and it offers a full range of appliances including: medium size refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink with hot and cold pressure water system, large countertops, and storage cabinets. Opposite the galley to the starboard is the enclosed head with shower. Forward is the V-berth that sleeps two with a vanity, storage shelves and two wardrobe lockers.

1987 Carver Santego 27' Power Boat. With twin Mercury 5.0L engines inboard/outboard Alpha 1 Gen II drives. It will make a great boat for the right person. Does need some TLC, please look at the pics. It is Marina owned. Running condition not known but it did take on water at the slip (failed sea-cock on the head) Boat was hauled quickly, and engines were serviced (oil, winterization, etc) Very low price for this size boat! $4000 obo

UPDATE ON ENGINES: The water got up to the starters, the oil etc was changed the engines WERE ran for a while on land after, So they were started after the boat took water. Then winterized and fogged. Again the water only got up to the starters. Most likely now after sitting on the hard 2-3 years it would need new starters. The boat was repowered in 1999.
