Discover the Power of Choice in Addiction and Substance Abuse Recovery!
SMART Recovery® is a modern, science-based addiction recovery support group, where participants learn self-empowering techniques to aid their recovery. No matter what your addiction, SMART Recovery tools and techniques can help you overcome the behavior. SMART Recovery uses tools based on scientifically proven methods for addiction recovery such as Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques.
Our 4-point program offers tools and techniques for:
1 ~ Building and Maintaining Motivation
2 ~ Coping with Urges
3 ~ Managing Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors
4 ~ Living a Balanced Life
SMART Recovery advocates choice, so that those seeking recovery can choose what works best for them from a variety of options. The SMART Recovery goal is for you to achieve a healthy, positive and balanced lifestyle and to "graduate" when you feel your addictive behavior is behind you, not to remain a life-long participant in the program.
We hold meetings six days a week in the New Haven area. Our Sunday evening meetings are held in room A113 of Engleman Hall at Southern Connecticut State University from 6:15 to 7:15 PM. The meeting is open to anyone. You do not have to be an SCSU student to attend.
There's free parking in the P2 lot, which is at the junction of Fitch Street and Pine Rock Avenue. (Engleman is the low building across the grass from the parking lot. If the end doors are locked, try the center doors around to the right.)
This is an open meeting. You are not required to RSVP before attending. You are not required to use your name or participate if you don't wish to. We do ask participants to respect the privacy of other attendees.
