DUST MITE ALLERGY CYCLE
The Power of UC-C Germicidal Light, the same light used in the Hygienitech System
I’m sure a lot of you have been asked what Hygienitech’s UV-C light is and what does it actually do. Well, the
following article is a perfect example of why Hygienitech has been pioneering its use mattress, upholstery and
hard surface cleaning and sanitizing for more than 15 years.

Everyone will always perspire and shed dead skin. We will spend 1/3 of our lives in bed, and additional
hours relaxing on a couch or chair every day. Dust mites are a constant presence in in our lives, no one
can completely eradicate them, and for some, their presence is of little consequence. They do not bite
us or seek anything other than our dead skin. Unfortunately, many of us have become much less
tolerant of allergens, and although the dust mite is harmless enough, their droppings contain a
particularly powerful protein that can cause a list of less than pleasant reactions. Many reports indicate
the presence of more than 1,000,000 dust mites in a mattress in the average clean house; with
significantly larger numbers in older ones, exceeding 2 million. It is because of these ever-increasing
numbers that the amount of dust mite waste – their droppings and remains, can clearly establish an
unhealthy place to rest for so many.
It is reported by health-focused organizations that as many as 35% of us suffer to some degree from
dust mite allergies. And, more seriously, the 20% of us who are asthma sufferers must tolerate the
exacerbation of our normal symptoms.
There is a list of all these symptoms later in this article provided by the Mayo Clinic.
Why do we put up with this situation? Do some of us believe that we diligently clean our house, maybe
vacuum our bed, chairs and drapes.
