We are seeking a Lead CDL -A Driver (preferred) to oversee a dedicated two-truck trucking operation based in Newtown, CT. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a professional driver with leadership experience (or aspirations) who can balance daily route operations with the management of a small team.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for our dedicated Newtown-to-Wilton route, ensuring high standards of safety, paperwork accuracy, and team reliability.
The Role
• Leadership: Oversee two box truck drivers and manage the day-to-day flow of a dedicated operation.
• Driving: Perform one daily round trip between Newtown, CT, and Wilton, CT.
• Backup Coverage: Serve as the primary backup driver should a team member be out sick or on vacation.
• Operations: Manage light administrative tasks, oversight of driver paperwork, and daily communication via email and logistics technology.
Schedule & Salary
• Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
• Weekend Policy: On- call from home on Saturdays.
• Major holidays off.
• Rate: $275.00- $ 325.00/ flat rate per day with opportunity for additional compensation.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure all loads are properly secured using straps and load bars.
• Provide minimal assistance with loading/unloading using a pallet jack.
• Maintain professional communication with the team and client locations.
• Monitor driver schedules and ensure route consistency.
Requirements
• Licensing: Valid CDL required (Class A preferred).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with email and comfortable using modern technology/logistics apps
