Family-Owned Company | High-Volume Retail Logistics
We are a family-owned trucking company currently seeking a high-energy Operations Supervisor to join our Wallingford team. This is a front-line leadership role dedicated to supporting a major online retail partner. You will be the "engine" of our daily operations—overseeing drivers, dispatch, and equipment to ensure every load is delivered safely and on time.
Key Responsibilities
•Dynamic Dispatching: Manage daily load assignments and logistics to consistently hit tight
customer deadlines.
•Driver Leadership: Monitor driver performance, ensure strict DOT/HOS compliance, and
provide active coaching to maintain high service standards.
•Safety & Compliance: Enforce company and federal (DOT/OSHA) safety regulations, lead
training sessions, and conduct thorough accident investigations.
•Performance Management: Execute performance reviews, manage attendance, and handle
disciplinary actions with a focus on team growth.
•Fleet Oversight: Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure all vehicles and trailers
remain in peak operating condition.
•Customer Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for our retail client, solving
service gaps and ensuring all requirements are exceeded.
Required Skills & Qualifications
•Experience: 2–4 years in transportation, logistics, or dispatching. Prior supervisory
experience is a major plus.
•License: Active Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
•Compliance: Deep understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS).
•Software: Proficiency in dispatch software, trucker GPS systems, and Microsoft Office
(Excel/Word).
•Leadership: A proven ability to motivate and lead a diverse team in a high-stress, fast-
moving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
•Amazon Management: Previous experience in an Amazon-servicing or similar high-volume
retail logistics environment.
•Mechanical Aptitude: A background in vehicle maintenance or mechanical troubleshooting.
Working Conditions
This is a hands-on role based in a truck yard (exposure to elements is expected). To support our 24/7 operations, candidates must be available to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
